This Man Went To Kill A Pastor But He Encountered Jesus

Deeply committed to his religion, Jayesh went to local temple every morning to worship his gods & godesses. One day, he met Gospel for Asia Pastor, Nabhith, as they were walking past one another through the village. It didn’t take long for Pastor Nabhith to share his love for Jesus with Jayesh.
As he listened to Pastor Nabhith talk about Christ, Jayesh assumed the man was forcing local people to convert to Christianity. Jayesh became deeply angered. He told Pastor Nabhith to move out of the village and stop converting people or he would present a case against him to the local law enforcement.
Pastor Nabhith calmly told Jayesh he wasn’t worried about a case being brought against him because he hadn’t done any of the things Jayesh was accusing him of.

After hearing Nabhith’s response, Jayesh decided he would not just report the pastor to the police—he would kill him.

To justify his murderous scheme, Jayesh was determined to catch Pastor Nabhith doing “evil things,” so he began to watch Nabhith very closely. Wherever the pastor went, Jayesh was close behind.
Instead of finding evidence against Pastorr Nabhith, however, Jayesh found there was nothing forceful in the way the pastor shared his message with men and women. He saw Pastor Nabhith visiting the sick and desperate villagers out of a genuine love and concern for them rather than with a secret motive to gain power for himself or make the villagers convert to his faith.

Jayesh had misjudged this servant of God:
When Pastor Nabhith was at his church one Friday night to pray with other believers, Jayesh sat outside the building listening to the way the group spoke to one another and to the Lord. He heard prayers full of compassion for sick people and genuine concern for the villagers’ various needs.

Jayesh wanted to join them inside the church, but he was nervous. He realized how desperately he needed God’s forgiveness, and he began to weep.

Pastor Nabhith heard the loud cries and went outside to find Jayesh, the man who had recently been so angry and bitter, crying out to God. The men went inside the church and prayed together.
Before the congregation, Jayesh shared that his plan all along had been to murder Pastor Nabhith. He repented and chose that day to follow Jesus.
“Now I know that there is no blame on him,” Jayesh later said about Pastor Nabhith. “He worships the real God.”
Jayesh and his entire family now joyfully worship God along with Pastor Nabhith, whose life is truly a reflection of the loving God they serve

Osun declares public holiday for traditional worshippers

OSOGBO — Government offices and business institutions in Osun State were shut yesterday following a public holiday declared for adherents of traditional religions.

Many workers in the public and private sectors were unaware of the public holiday until they got to their offices.

Miss Dupe Oluwadare, a staff of the state House of Assembly, said she was not aware of the holiday up tillthe close of work on Monday.

Oluwadare, however, said she would spend the day resting and doing household chores.

Mr. Alfred Folayan and Mrs. Doyin Ajayi, both bankers, said they would spend the day at home for private engagements.

Mr. Toyin Alatiba, a businessman, who was at a bank on Old Governor’s Road to make a deposit, expressed surprise that the holiday could affect financial institutions.

The two local government secretariats in Osogbo, the state capital, Olorunda and Osogbo, also wore a desolate look as workers stayed away to observe the public holiday.

The public holiday was announced, late Monday, on the state broadcasting station by Mr. Sunday Akere, the Commissioner for Information.

Akere said the public holiday was to celebrate the world’s traditional religions on a day known as Isese.

According to the commissioner, Governor Rauf Aregbesola declared the public holiday in the spirit of equality among the various religious groups in the state.

Isese Day, among traditional religion believers, is the celebration of the peak of festivity in Yorubaland known as Odun Nla.’

“Hence, the holiday was given to them to celebrate with members of their families,” Akere said.

Mr. Sikiru Ayedun, the state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Culture and Tourism, said, yesterday, that the holiday was to be observed annually in the state.

He said: “It is a further proof of the fact that Governor Aregbesola respects the freedom of all citizens of the state to practice their beliefs.

“Christians have Christmas, Muslims have Sallah. It is not too much for traditional religion worshippers to have their own holiday in the spirit of equality.

“The traditional religion worshippers had made a presentation for the holiday to the government.

Okada riders defy ban, return to Kano streets

KANO—COMMERCIAL motorcycle operators, otherwise known as Okada riders, have fully returned to Kano streets despite government ban on their activities in eight local Government areas of the state.

Investigation revealed that a sizable number of Okada riders popularly known as Achaba in local parlance are seen offering quick services to customers early morning and late night in some major streets and in the neighbourhood.

The Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso administration had at the wake of attack on the Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero by unknown gunmen January 19, restricted Okada riders’ activities and directed them to vacate Kano streets by 6pm and must not carry passengers within the metropolitan councils.

Sequel to the development, residents that witnessed several killings allegedly masterminded by gunmen onmotor bike had expressed concerns.

Malam Bala Dan’azumi told Vanguard that “we are worried by the gradual return of Achaba riders in Kano streets most especially within the neighbourhood where it has become a past time for them to carry out their nefarious activities.”

Dan’azumi who lives in Kurna Asabe noted that “there is laxity on the part of enforcing authorities who at the moment appear not ready to enforce the law for reasons best known to them. I know Kano too well, if others are doing it and getting away with it, be rest assured that multitude would join them in the next few days, and it would be difficult to control them”

But the Police Public Relations Officer, Magaji Musa Majia, in a reaction declared that “the ban prohibiting their activities between 6am-6pm is still in force, stressing that “the order restricting cyclist from carrying passenger is also in full force. It was occasioned by the relaxation of enforcement during the Holy month of Ramadan.”

Navy parades four suspected pirates

The Navy yesterday paraded paraded four suspected pirates in Lagos, who allegedly hijacked an oil vessel, MV Crow at the Escravos on August 14.

They were paraded a few days after 12 of a 16-man gang of pirates who allegedly hijacked a vessel, MT Norde, loaded with petroleum products were killed in Warri, Delta State.

The suspects, according to the Commander Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft, Commodore Chris Ezekobe, were arrested in Ondo State following a tip off from Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

While parading the suspects at the Defence Jetty, Marina, Ezekoba said the vessel was pursued to Aiyetoro, Ondo State.

He said: “When we circled her, there was no sign of life on board. We called and radioed severally but there was no response.

“Of course, our suspicion was aroused and then we fired a barrage of shots into the air. Once they heard the shots, the sea robbers came out and threw their weapons into the water.”

On how the navy intends to maintain the tempo and ensure the nation’s waters were safe, he said: “If the acquisition of more vessels are maintained, our waters would be safer. The International Maritime Bureau (IMB) has listed our country as the second next to Somalia and we are working assiduously to change that perception.

“But it is pertinent to state that our challenge in Nigeria is sea robbery as opposed to piracy which is obtained in Somalia.

“We have over 6000 creeks between Lagos to Calabar and it is easier for the sea robbers to attack and slipback to the creeks.”

However, the leader of the gang, Adekunle Adeboye, who claimed it was his first operation, said the four suspects were deployed by their master known as General.

“General had sent us from Igbokoda to go and hijack oil vessels. This was my very first operation and I was recruited this month. “The ‘General’ promised us money if we succeed in hijacking and emptying an oil vessel,” Adeboye said.

On how they intercepted the vessel and took the nine-man crew hostage, another suspect, Segun Oyo said they trailed the barge and overpowered the crew.

He said: “We trailed the barge and then used our weapons to overpower them. We did not shoot anyone rather we threatened them with the guns and weapons we had on us.

“We were able to overpower them though they had crowd because of our weapons.”

Oyo said he would advise his colleagues to desist from crimes if he was released.

Shekau: Lagos Assembly urges caution

The Lagos State House of Assembly has urged the military defence headquarters not to rely on the “hasty speculations” made by the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Borno States that the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, may have died in Amitchide, a border community in Cameroon, after an encounter with troops in June this year.

Speaking with reporters in his office at the Assembly complex yesterday, the House’s spokesman andInformation Committee Chairman, Mr. Segun Olulade, said given the sect’s sophistication, reliance on theJTF’s speculation can be risky unless there is concrete confirmation.

He urged the JTF to intensify its operations in Chad and Cameroon borders and Boko Haram concentration camps to curb their activities.

Olulade said there were many occasions when the death of Osama Bin Ladin was speculated and celebrated even before he allegedly masterminded the bombing of the World Trade Centre in the United States (U.S.) on September 11, 2001, adding that the fact that Shekau was injured during a crossfire with troops in Sambisa Forest was not enough reason to believe he is dead.

He hailed the JTF men for their exploits, especially the killing of Shekau’s second-in-command, Momodu Bama, and 17 members of the sect, as well as the arrest of 24 members.

Urging the JTF not to relax, the lawmaker said the war against terrorism must be fought tirelessly to ensure peace and development.
