Breaking News! Another Air Force Helicopter Crashes In Port Harcourt, Rivers

Less than 48 hours after an Alpha jet belonging to the Nigerian Air Force crashed near Niamey in Niger Republic, killing two pilots, an Air Force helicopter has crashed in Port Harcourt. The crash which occurred at the NAF Base in Port Harcourt, Rivers State while trying to land.

Princezzofnaija gathered that the helicopter was already in descent when the pilot lost control causing it to crash land. The chopper, a gunship apparently carried ammunition as the crash sent off sparks and explosions. Men of the fire service responded promptly and were already on the scene at the time of filing the report, battling to subdue the fire.

Reports has it that all flights have been cancelled, while fire fighters have arrived the seen and battling the fire.

This is the third chopper crash involving a Nigerian military helicopter in 5 months. Firstly, it will be recalled that Nigeria’s former Security Adviser, Gen Patrick Owoye Azazi and Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State died when a military chopper conveying them from a function crashed last December. Secondly, the last two days ago in Niger killing two pilots. And thirdly, this very incident that just took place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
