Surgery: I’ll Soon Be Back From Germany – IBB
Former president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) has confirmed to journalists in Minna that he is recuperating from his surgery in Germany.
The former leader who spoke to the journalists through the telephone of another former head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar when he paid a Sallah homage to Niger State governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu said he will soon be back home.
IBB who did not specify the time he would come home confirmed the earlier report of LEADERSHIP that he underwent a surgery in Germany and he is recovering as expected.
“I miss all of you; I wish you all Barka Da Sallah; I am better now; I will be back in few days time,” IBB said.
LEADERSHIP gathered from a source close to the family that IBB is expected back next week Friday and that he would have been back before Sallah but he was advised to undergo some routine medical examinations before returning home.
The source added that it was because of his appreciable level of recovery that he told Mohammed his son to come and celebrate Sallah with hisfriends as usual in Minna.
IBB left Nigeria on the 6th of September, 2014 for Germany where he underwent a surgery to relieve him of some back pains.
Meanwhile, General Abdulsalami Abubakar said he came for the Sallah homage with two of IBB’s closest friends because the tradition was for him and IBB to pay Sallah homage to the governor.
Speaking on the 2015 general elections, he said, “Politicians should learn to play the game of politics without bitterness. We are all one as we are all brothers and sisters.”
Also speaking, Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu said he was pleased when the team sent by the state government to see IBB came back home with the news that he was recuperating, adding “When the team came back, they told us they had a conversation with him for over four hours. This is a pleasant piece of information compared to what we heard before.”
