Lil Wayne Insists ‘Tha Carter V’ Will Be His Last Solo Album

Lil Wayne’s upcoming “Tha Carter V” will be his last solo album. That is, unless someone offers him 25 million good reasons to record another.

The rapper has used an interview for MTV.com to announce after album No. 5, he’ll take five… indefinitely.

”I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes and it’s definitely the final Carter album. It’s the final Carter album. It’s stopping at five.”

There’s a caveat. Money might help him reconsider his solo retirement. “25 to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this,” he said.

“Tha Carter V” doesn’t have an officially-announced release date just yet, but at a show last month in New Orleans, Drake brought out the rapper and announced that the record would see a May 5 release.

A tracklisting for the album emerged in late February.

Should the predicted release date hold, “Tha Carter V” will come nearly three years after the release of its predecessor, “Tha Carter IV.” That album went to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, hitting a total of 964,000 copies sold in its first week. The rapper followed the album with last year’s “I Am Not a Human Being II,” which hit No. 2 with 217,000 first-week copies sold.
