Poetry: Having breakfast with you

I look at you and I would rather look at you than all the portraits in the world

Remember the poem “Having a coke with you” that got everybody spellbound in their seats (oh well, maybe just me) in the modern day remake of beauty and the beast. So I did my own version and I thought I should share it with you.

Having breakfast with you

Having breakfast with you

Is even more fun than shopping on excellent deals

Or being sick to my stomach on coldstone ice cream

Partly because in your black Polo shirt you look like a better Ralph Lauren model

Partly because of my love for you, partly because of your love for smoozy

Partly because of the time we spend together

It is hard to believe when I’m with you that anything can be as better than seeing Fast and Furious in 3D

In the warm Babcock 7 o’clock light we are drifting back and forth

Between each other like a tree breathing through its spectacles

I look at you and I would rather look at you than all the portraits in the world

Except possibly all the pictures of Tom Hardy I have on my phone and tab which thank heavens you haven’t seen yet

And the fact that you move like you are more confident than Harvey Specter

Just as at home I never think of a Leonardo Dicapprio movie

And what good does his superb acting skills do him when he never gets the right person to celebrate his Hollywood achievements with

It seems like he’s been cheated of some marvelous experience

Which is not going to go wasted on me which is why I’m telling you about it

The girl with the sweaty palms….
